This Privacy Policy outlines how JustSpeak ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use our voice-to-text application ("JustSpeak") that transcribes audio data locally on your device, and when you visit our website. By using JustSpeak, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. We are committed to protecting your privacy and fulfilling our obligations under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and other applicable privacy regulations.

Scope of this Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to the JustSpeak application and to our website, getjustspeak.com. It does not cover any third-party applications, websites, or services that may be linked to, integrated with, or otherwise accessed through JustSpeak. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services before providing your personal information to them.

Information We Collect

JustSpeak is designed to process audio data locally on your device. Your audio recordings and the content of your transcriptions stay on your device: we do not collect, receive, or store them, in line with our commitment to data minimization under the GDPR and other data protection regulations.

Information collected during sign up and purchase of JustSpeak is stored by our 3rd party payment processors and email service providers to provide you with the service and validate your purchase. We retain the right to use this information to contact you about the service and provide you with updates about the app.

We also collect limited, pseudonymous usage analytics from the JustSpeak app and from our website, as described in the "Usage Analytics" section below. These analytics describe how the product is used (for example, which features are opened or whether a download succeeded); they never include your audio, transcripts, or other content.

Data Processing Guarantees

We want to be transparent about how we handle your data. Here are our specific guarantees:

• No Training Usage: Your data is not used for training AI models or any other machine learning purposes. This includes our usage analytics, which are never used to train speech or language models.
• No Content Retention: Your audio recordings and transcript content are not retained on JustSpeak servers. Speech recognition and text cleanup run on your device, and your content stays on your machine.
• Limited Identification: We do not associate your audio or transcript content with your identity, because we never receive that content. Calls to our API do require authentication and can be identified for security and access control purposes only, and usage analytics are linked to a pseudonymous analytics identifier rather than your name or email address.

Usage Analytics

JustSpeak collects limited, pseudonymous product and website analytics through PostHog, an analytics service provider. PostHog processes this data on our behalf; you can read more about how PostHog handles data at posthog.com/privacy.

Depending on how you use the app and the website, these analytics may include:

• App feature and button interactions (for example, opening settings or starting a dictation)
• Screen views in the app and page visits on our website
• Onboarding progress and which predefined options you select
• Permission-request outcomes (for example, whether microphone access was granted)
• Whether a dictation or transcription attempt succeeded or failed (never its content)
• Model download, retry, completion, and deletion outcomes
• Performance measurements, such as how long an operation took
• App version, operating system, device or browser category, and environment
• Website referral and campaign information, when available
• A pseudonymous analytics identifier
• Technical information PostHog receives automatically when events are sent, such as your IP address and related network metadata

What Analytics Never Contain

Our analytics events describe product usage, not your content. They never contain:

• Audio or voice recordings
• Transcript contents
• Dictated or typed text
• Clipboard contents
• Filenames or document contents
• Screen captures
• Vocabulary entries
• Custom mode prompts
• License keys, payment details, or email addresses

How We Use Analytics

We use this data to understand which features are adopted, diagnose failures and performance problems, improve onboarding and product reliability, and measure website usage and downloads. We do not use analytics data to train speech or language models, and we do not sell it.

If you use JustSpeak on macOS, you can disable usage analytics at any time from JustSpeak Settings.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

Our website uses PostHog analytics, which stores a pseudonymous analytics identifier and related analytics state in your browser using cookies and local storage. This lets us count page visits and downloads without knowing who you are. We do not use advertising cookies.

The native JustSpeak app for macOS is not a web browser and does not use browser cookies. It sends the analytics events described above directly to PostHog, and you can disable this in JustSpeak Settings.

Data Security

We take the security of your personal information very seriously. Since JustSpeak processes audio data locally, there is no need for data transmission for local transcription. This significantly reduces the risk of unauthorized access or disclosure of your information. However, no method of data transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee the absolute security of any information you provide through JustSpeak as the files do get saved to your device.

Your Rights

Under the GDPR and the CCPA, you have certain rights relating to your personal data, including the right to be informed about the collection and use of your personal data, the right to access the data we hold about you, and the right to have your data deleted or restricted under certain circumstances. Because your audio and transcript content never leaves your device, these rights mainly apply to the purchase and contact information held by our payment and email providers and to the pseudonymous usage analytics described above. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be effective immediately upon posting the revised policy on JustSpeak. Your continued use of JustSpeak after any changes to the Privacy Policy have been posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. If the changes are significant, we may provide a more prominent notice or seek your consent, as required by law.

Important: Any changes to our core data processing guarantees (regarding data training usage, server retention, and user identification) will not occur without prior notice to our users, giving you sufficient time to evaluate the changes and make informed decisions about your continued use of our service.
